THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE WYOMING COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT WHICH HAS CONFIRMED FIVE CASES OF MEASLES WITHIN A LOCAL MENNONITE COMMUNITY. THE STATE AND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENTS ARE WORKING TO DETERMINE WHETHER THERE HAVE BEEN ADDITIONAL EXPOSURES AND TO ADVISE PEOPLE WHO MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED SYMPTOMS CONSISTENT WITH MEASLES TO CONTACT WYOMING COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH OR THEIR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER.

WYOMING COUNTY HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE ACTIVELY ENGAGING THE MENNONITE COMMUNITY TO DISCUSS THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING VACCINATED TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF MEASLES. MEASLES IS A HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS RESPIRATORY DISEASE CAUSED BY A VIRUS THAT IS SPREAD BY DIRECT CONTACT WITH NASAL OR THROAT SECRETIONS OF INFECTED PEOPLE.

THIRTY-NINE-YEAR-OLD, ALVIRN RILEY OF CANISTEO MAN WAS ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE COUNTS, INCLUDING A CRIMINAL SEX ACT AND FOR SEVERAL OTHER CHARGES THIS PAST THURSDAY. RILEY WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE STEUBEN COUNTY HOLDING FACILITY TO AWAIT ARRAIGNMENT, POLICE SAID.

IN AVON, TRUCKS AND CARS OF ALL TYPES AND SIZES WERE FEATURED SATURDAY IN THE “PARTY ROW TRUCK SHOW” AT THE QUICKLEE’S TRAVEL CENTER. THE EVENT RAISED TWO THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES IN ROCHESTER. PARTICIPANTS SHOWED A VARIETY OF PICK-UP TRUCKS, TRACTOR TRAILER CABS, HOT RODS, AND CLASSIC MUSCLE CARS.
