A man from Springwater is facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop in Lima. Deputies say 35 year old Kevin Mulligan was driving without a license because a previous drunk driving conviction and that a search of his vehicle after that stop on Corby Road turned up 5 bags of crack, Mulligan was arraigned in Lima town court and released on his own recognizance until his next court appearance.
An Amber Alert that went out Thursday for for infant missing from Schuyler County has been canceled. Officials say 15 day old Gionna Harter has been found and is safe.
Two members of the New York National Guard from Livingston County have been honored for their service during Hurricane Maria. Specialists Michael Digaetano from Conesus and Trevor Purcell of Nunda are members of the 222nd MP Company who served in the Puerto Rico and the U S Virgin Islands in the aftermath of the storm last October and November . The leader of New York national guard, Major General Anthony P. German says the Humanitarian Medal is reflection of the commitment and dedication of those who serve. More than 400 citizen-soldiers from the state are eligible to get the award.
As the state unveils a plan to put in more high speed electric vehicle charges on theThruway, that technology is already up and running in Hornelsville. A 2-port electric vehicle charging station was installed in Town Hall in Arkport a few weeks ago. Customers who need an electric fill up will use a smartphone app ro access the chargers any pay for the power. The town is getting a rebate to grant to pay for the stations and is taking other steps to be designated as a Clean Energy Community.
Aspiring artists will have a chance to show off their skills in Dansville next week. Dansville ArtWorks on Main St. is having a Friday Night Painting Party, May 18 from 6:00 8:00 in the evening. Participants will paint Dogwood Flowers with Melissa Gartz. Speaking of colorful spring flowers, the 120th Rochester Lilac festival starts today with musics food and all things Lilac. It runs through Sunday, the 20th, from 10:30 to 8:30 and it is free.
Speculation is mounting about who will be New York’s next attorney general. Former A G Eric Scheinderman quit this week after accusations of abuse and now lawmakers are working to replace him until Novembers election. Among those whose names are being mentioned as potential candidates in the fall, Lt. Governor and former 25th district Representative Kathy Hochul. She isn’t saying much, except that she trusts state leaders to make the right call on a temporary replacement until November’s vote.
