It’s voting day in Livingston County. Among the school districts deciding on budgets: Wayland-Cohocton, where The polls are open from 10am to 8pm at the high school’s large group instruction room.. That 30.5 million plan is 225,000 more than last year year. School district officials say its a conservative budget which essentially flat except for contracted increases. Two school board members will also be chosen..Incumbents Lisa Bugbee and Philip Trautman are facing a challenge from Amy Tatlock
The Valedictorian of the Class on 2018 at Wayland Concoction High will soon be a member of the long gray line at the U S Military academy. Mackenzie Curtin says she is excited to join the corps of Cadets at West Point. She won’t have much time to wait after graduationshe’ll march off an Army on July 2ndjust a couple weeks after graduating.
Another arrest as part of the Livingston County sheriff’s department’s Operation Safe Interstate initiative. Deputies say 20 year old Tristin Hagan of Geneseo was stopped for a traffic violation and that a search found cocaine in her4 vehicle She was arraigned in Livonia town court where bond was set at $1,500.
New York could one day be place where gambling on sports is legal, but don’t bet on it anytime soon. The U S supreme court has tossed out a federal ban on state backed sports books, and even though it will be allowed, it could state a while for New York to change it’s state rules. Governor Cuomo says it probably wont be this year because betting would require legislative approval. Ifand whenit does become OK to put down money on sports,the wagering could happen at casinos the Del Lago in Seneca County, and at O T B parlors. Other states like New Jersey which sued to allow gambling, could get in on the action sooner, perhaps as quickly as next month.,
13 people say they want to be New York’s next attorney general. They have all submitted their resumes to the legislature, where a committee will be going over the names today, The panel will then make a recommendation of at least one of the candidates to the entire legislature. Whoever gets the job will replace former A G Eric Schie3derman who quit last week after several women accused him of abuse.
