The Livingston County Sheriff’s office says a man from Sparta is facing drug charges after an online tip. Deputies say 27-year-old Samual Ventura was arrested after someone contacted the department through the internet about a person passed in a car in the Wegman’s parking lot in Geneseo. That’s where police say they found Venura—along with a woman and a child—and charged him with possessing prescription drugs he had;t have a prescription for. Sherrif Thomas Daughterty says he’s grateful for the tip, but also says in cases that require immediate attention, it’s best to phone in the information, which can be kept anonymous.
A historic Inn in Livingston County is back in business. The owners of the Avon Inn have spent more than a year getting ready—and now the inn’s dining room is buzzing again—and rooms are expected to be available there in the spring. Jennifer and Jim Krause say they have parties and weddings booked at the inn as well. The Avon inn has quite a history—its been on Main Street since 1840 and has seen its share of famous visitors including Eleanor Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Katherine Hepburn.
A Wyoming County woman is accused of sexually abusing a four-year-old child. Attica police say 23-year-old Victoria Young sent a video to someone showing a sexual act by the child to an adult. She was arrested yesterday and police said she and the victim are related. Young is being held on 100-thousand-dollars bail and isn’t allowed to contact the child. She’s due back in court next month and may face more charges.
Governor Cuomo is finally rid of campaign cash given to him from Harvey Weinstein. Reports say that Cuomo said last year he would donate all 111-thousand dollars received from the disgraced former Hollywood executive accused of sexual assault and misconduct. Campaign records show that Cuomo just made the donation to Women’s Justice NOW on Tuesday. He has more than 30-million-dollars in his account.
Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul says she’ll remain Governor Cuomo’s running mate. There had been talk about her challenging Congressman—and that she might be replaced on the ticket by Rochester’s Mayor Lovely Warren. Hochul says Cuomo has asked her to run with him for re-election again and she’s embracing that job.
New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is suing President Trump’s Administration for air pollution chneiderman and Connecticut’s attorney general have filed a joint lawsuit claiming the EPA isn’t doing enough to keep smog from drifting over state lines. According to the press release about one in three New Yorkers breathe an unhealthy level of smog and Schneiderman blamed other states for much of this. He says this is a violation of the Clean Air Act.
