A man from Conesus is accused with sexually assaulting a 7 year old in West Sparta, and it’s not the first time he has been charged with sexual offenses. 27 year old Derek Getman was arrested after a complaint was filed with the Livingston County Sheriff’s office on Christmas Day. He is being held without bail Reports say Getman’s past includes convictions and prison time for contempt, forcible sexual touching, and promotion of a sexual performance by a child. In spite of that past, authorities say he was NOT listed on the state’s sex offender registry.

A teenage girl who was badly hurt in a crash on 390 in North Dansville two days before Christmas is still in Strong Memorial hospital recovering. Sheriff Thomas Dougherty says the 15 year old was a passenger in one of the five vehicles involved in that pile up in snowy condition near exit 4 on December 23rd. The sheriff says the crash came during a particularly challenging time for his personnel due to the weather. Extra dispatchers were brought in to handle the number of calls, and the sheriff himself was pressed into duty alongside his road patrol officers.

A man from Mt. Morris apparently did not get the message about drinking and driving over the New Year’s weekend. State police say 38 year old Rafael Rodriguez was drunk when he rolled his SUV down an embankment on Route 63 in the town of Geneseo around 8:30 morning. Reports say he blew a .11 on the Breathalyzerover the .08 limit. Rodriquez was charged with DWI and is due back in court later this month.

The flu season is hitting the area so hard that some area hospitals are restricting visitors The latest numbers show that the we have some of the highest flu rates in the state. The Monroe county health commissioner is warning folks who think they might have the flu to take precautions to try to not infect others The CDC isn’t sure how effective this season’s flu shot is yet, but it encourages folks to get it as soon as possible.

Governor Cuomo gives his his yearly State of the State address today. He is expected to Cuomo will speak about the direction he wants the state to go this year A number of items on his agenda include upping the minimum wage, increasing paid time off for family leave and cutting middle-class taxes.
