Authorities are investigation the death of a man who was being held at the Livingston County Jail. Reports say the man who had been brought in on Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs early Friday was found unresponsive in his cell and that efforts to revive him failed. Foul play is not suspected by the state Corrections commission will investigate as it does in such cases.
Election Day is almost here and area voters are facing some big decisions. There are several local races, including three people trying for two open seats on the North Dansville town Board. Incumbent Gregory Horr is running for another term—while newcomers Peter bacon and Chris Lynn are also on the ballot there. The big question statewide is whether New Yorkers want to call a convention to look at changing the state’s constitution. Polls open on Tuesday at six in the morning and close at nine o’clock tomorrow night.
Lawmakers will be taking up a bill that would set up guidelines to treat and reports suspected cases o Lyme Disease in New York. State Senator Patrick Galvan says it’s an important public health issue that need to be address. The bill would develop a standard way to treat the trick borne illness—and make it easier for patients to get information about it. The C D C says New York has one of the highest rates of Lyme disease in the country with more than 3,200 confirmed cases in 2015 and hundreds more suspected cases. The state already spends $400,000 on Lyme disease research, education and prevention.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is issuing a statement on Sunday’s mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Cuomo said his “heart breaks for the victims of the horrific tragedy” adding “we cannot accept mass shootings as part of who were are. This can and must stop. Enough is enough.” The shooting has left at least 26 people dead and many more injured.
