The Congressional Ethics Committee says it’s going to extend its investigation into Congressman Chris Collins In May, the Office of Congressional Ethics was notified of possible conflicts of interest involving Collins and his stock purchases. The committee say that in about a month, it will announce how it plans to proceed. Collins’ spokeswoman is calling the allegations a partisan witch hunt.
A man from Livonia has been arrested and has been charged with driving without a license-for the 20th time. Police identify him as 27 year old Charles DeMauro wasn’t supposed to be driving on Lakeville Road where he was pulled over, this time time time for speeding. He’s facing felony charges and was taken to jail on $ 2,000 bond. No word on WHY DeMauro’s driving privileges have been pulled so many time before.
Governor Cuomo is ordering all state flags to be flown at half-staff today in honor of a New York serviceman and nine other sailors killed in the USS John S. McCain collision last week. Twenty-eight-year-old Petty Officer Corey George Ingram of Poughkeepsie was among those killed when the Navy destroyer crashed into an oil tanker near Singapore. Cuomo says the entire state grieves for Ingram and the others who lost their lives serving the country.
Harvey is hundreds of miles away Texas and Louisiana, but look for its effects to be seen as close as your local gas station Gas prices have started to go up, and experts say the area will likely see that trendat least for the time being. Houston is home to a big chunk of America’s refiner and is also the head end of a pipeline that brings that refined gas north. We probably won’t know exact impact on supply and price until the amount of damage to the oil industry in the Gulf region becomes more clear. However experts think the jump will only be temporary because oil company have a Plan Band that the price may be somewhat offset by the lower demand as we get into fall and fewer people on the road. No word if we’ll see an impact on heating oilwhich we’ll need before that much longer.
New York is trying to do its share to help out with disaster relief efforts in Texas. Yesterday, Governor Cuomo sent emergency personnel and equipment to Texas and Louisiana. Dozens of Red Cross volunteers from New York are heading to Baton Rouge or are already there. Anyone interested in helping out can text the word “Harvey” to 90999 to make a ten-dollar-donation. Folks can also donate at the Salvation Army booth at the state fair
Rochester native John Lithgow is shooting a movie in the Rochester area. The Emmy Award-winning actor is reportedly going to be filming alongside Blythe Danner locally for the next couple of weeks. Reports Lithgow was shooting in the city this week. No word on The title of the movie , what it’s about or and when it might come out.
