Gas prices in Livingston County are down a bit. Triple A says on average, the price in the county is 2.38 a gallon—down a penny from the week before and six cents from June. Some stations are have even lower prices—in Dansville—at least one station reports a prices of 2.27 a gallon. Overall ,prices should start to RISE a little with high demand, but a lot depends on global events and a big meeting of OPEC ministers later this month that could put a squeeze on the supply of crude.
Three people have been arrested in two different cases of shoplifting from the Geneseo Walmart. Deputies say the first two, identified as 20 year old Lauren Cork of Warsaw and 23 year old Lorin Volk of Perry, were picked up and charged with petty larceny after they allegedly tried to steal around $120.00 of clothes from the store on Veterans Drive. Volk is also facing charges in Genesee county after sheriffs say they discovered she had an outstanding warrant for driving without a license from there. In the second case, 51 year old Elizabeth Rossborough of West Sparta is in hot water after she allegedly tried to take a $27.00 wading pool. She is charged with petty larceny and is due back in court next month.
Governor Cuomo is speaking out about the death of a state trooper. Trooper Joel Davis was shot and killed Sunday night responding to a domestic disturbance in Jefferson County. Police believe the gunman was active duty Fort Drum soldier Justin Walters. He’s facing murder charges for the deaths of his wife and the State Trooper. The governor says that Trooper Davis’s death is another tragic reminder of the risks that law enforcement faces on a daily basis.
Children in the Finger Lakes Region can learn to swim at a local state park this summer. Thousands of New York kids are eligible to learn to swim outdoors under a new program announced by the Governor Cuomo. Registration is still open for lessons at the Hamlin Beach State Park. Cuomo said the program is a great way for kids to become acquainted with the water in a fun and safe way this summer.
Ontario County deputies are searching for a missing elderly man from Rochester. Deputies say 83-year-old Richard Myers was last seen yesterday morning at Smith Boys Marina on Canandaigua Lake when he asked for help starting his boat. The boat washed ashore less than an hour later without Myers. Search teams worked yesterday to try to find the man but so far Myers remains missing.
Orleans County deputies are looking for a missing missing woman and her toddler.. Deputies say 24-year-old Alexandra Finnefrock and her two-year-old son were last seen on Thursday in Holley. Alexandra is described as tall and slim with blonde hair and tattoos on her arms and legs. Her son is about three feet tall with curly brown hair. They were last seen in a silver 2006 Toyota Corolla with Florida plates. Deputies ask anyone with information to call.
