A woman from Geneseo is facing drunk driving charges for the 4th time in just the past 3 months and police say the latest two charges against 54 year old Sharon davis come just a day apart. Davis was arrested on June 25th in Geneseo, taken to jail and bailed out. Then, according to police, she was arrested the very next day after she reportedly hit several parked cars in Lakeville and was later found stumbling around drunk in Vitale park. Davis was already facing two OTHER felony drink driving charges in Genesee and Orleans counties in April and May. All of the charges are felonies because records show she has raCked up two More drink driving convictions in 2007 and 2008. Officials in Orleans county want her kept behind bars. in the words of one deputy She has to be stopped before she kills someone.
Its been a week now since the bear fountain in Geneseo has been backand police say they have already had to deal with a few people who want to get a little too up close and personal there. So far police have had to respond to reports of people getting in the water, going for a swim, and putting soap in the basin. The fountain had to be shut off because of the soap but the water over the weekend is back on. Police say no one has been charged, but that playing around the fountain is dangerous because it sits in the middle of a busy intersection
Some new names for the Dansville central school’s Wall of Pride.The foundation for Dansville pride says Thomas Rauber, Sr., Helen Pratt, Dr. Sohail, Mrs. Afshan Qureshi, and Nicholas Noyes will be honored for their contributions to the community at a ceremony on October 21st. The wall at Dansville high recognizes alumni, educators and other from Danville who have made an impact with their lives.
A man from Ontario County is facing charges after a jet ski accident on Canandaigua Lake. Deputies say yesterday Joshua Busch was driving Luis Rivera when Rivera was ejected from the jet ski and was hurt. Deputies say Rivera suffered a head injury. Busch was charged with boating while intoxicated and is due in court at a later date.
Plans for a new veterans cemetery in the region are moving forward. The state says environmental permits have been granted to develop part of a 192 acre tract in Pembroke, in Genesee County. The new burial ground would help with the growing shortage of plots for vetaran and an aging veteran population, especially in Western and Central New York. The nearest current cemetery in in Steuben county. The new location has been planned since 2014.
A record number of bald eagles are breeding in New York. This week the Department of Environmental Conservation announced there are more than an estimated 300 pairs of breeding bald eagles in the state. The DEC says this number has been steadily rising since 2010. The DEC requests people report eagles so they can better track and observe the state’s eagle population.
