Oakfield 10 Dansville 3
The Dansville 11-12 year old all-stars ventured off to Genesee County on Tuesday (July 5th) for District #3 Little League baseball action. Although the red & black “lit the fuse”, the “fireworks” came off the bats of Oakfield who defeated the locals by a final score of 10-3.
Coach Mark Little’s club got on the board first in the game as they plated a trio of runs in the 2nd inning to take an early lead. Shane Crandall walked & stole 2 bases before Mike Suydam’s double brought him home. A walk to Bryce Applin set up a Taylor Wolfanger run-scoring hit. Wolfanger would also score following a walk to Devin Douglas. But unfortunately for Dansville, that’s all they would get.
Oakfield came back & took the lead for good in the 3rd. A single & a walk set the table as Haydon Groff doubled & then Kameron Cusimano clubbed a homerun to highlight a 4-run inning. The host team would bat around in the 4th & score 6 more runs to seal the 10-3 victory. Garrett Totten recorded the pitching victory firing 3 strong innings, as Kyle Porter came out of the bullpen & hurled shutout baseball for the final 3 frames. For Dansville, Mike Suydam & Quinn Howe spent time on the hill. Offensively for Dansville Mackenzie Johnson-Boser was 1-2….Shane Crandall stole 2 bases & scored a run…Mike Suydam had a double & scored once….Jake Smith added a hit…Taylor Wolfanger was 1-2 with a stolen base & scored a run.
Dansville will seek its first All-Star win on Thursday night (July 7) when they host Geneseo on Knox Street at 6pm.
