Dansville 11-12’s Dropped in All-Star Opener in Batavia

    Batavia 11 Dansville 1

Its never “good news” to open the District #3 Little League baseball tournament in Batavia. That’s the card that Dansville drew in the 2016 all-star tournament on Thursday ( June 30th) as coach Mark Little’s team tried to hang tight with Batavia, but the blue & white would score in every inning en route to an 11-1 win at Ernie Park Stadium in the opener.

Batavia had taken a 3-0 lead over the first 2 innings of action before Dansville could get on the board. The red & black saw Mike Suydam walk to lead of the 3rd, & would later score on a passed ball for Dansville’s lone run of the game. The Batavia pitching staff was very stingy with baserunners on the night as the locals had only 5 of them in the entire game. Batavia would hit back-to-back homers by Vincent Grazioplane & Vinny DiCisco as the home team tacked on 3 runs in the 3rd, a pair in the 4th & 3 more in the 5th to finish the damage by an 11-1 count.

Dansville sent Mike Suydam to the hill for the first 4 innings while Shane Crandall threw the 5th. Dansville would be limited to just one hit…a 1-out single in the 5th by Mike Suydam, who would also steal 3 bases & score the only run. Dansville hosts Leroy on Sat. July 2nd at 2pm in game # 2 of tournament play.

Batavia saw Vinny DiCisco work the first 2 innings allowing no runs, no hits, with 5 K’s & one walk. Dominic Taylor finished up with 3 innings of 1-hit baseball allowing an unearned run while striking out 7 & walking 3. Offensively Vince Grazioplane was 2-2 with a homer & scored twice in his own behalf….Aiden Anderson was 2-2 with a stolen base & a run scored…Dominic Taylor 3-4 with a double…Bradie Woods 2-4…Connor Scott 2-3….Cory McDonald had a hit & scored twice…Byron Wormley was 1-1 & scored a pair of runs…Vinnie DiCisco was 1-2 with homer & scored a run….Jamison Richardson & Jessie Reinhart added hits for Batavia in the victory as well.
