Union Hose 12 Shay’s 1
The month of June started with a “bang” for Union Hose as they started slow, but all of a sudden the bats came alive & Coach Jim Sullivan’s club wound up with a 12-1 win over Shay’s on Wednesday (June 1) night on Knox Street in Dansville Little League baseball action. The Hosers took the lead without virtue of a hit in the opening inning. Shane Crandall was hit by a pitch, & then Noah Clark reached on a dropped third strike. A passed ball, a wild pitch & a stolen base all figured in the scoring. In the 3rd Union Hose plated 3 more runs. Shane Crandall doubled to open the inning. Hits by J.J. Chrissy, Noah Clark & Jace Cassata made the lead 4 runs. The Unionized Hosers scored one more in the 4th, & then blew the game wide open by scoring 5 times in the 5th to put the game out of reach. Shay’s lone tally crossed the plate in the home half of the 5th when MacKenzie Johnson singled & then came home on Bryce Applin’s double.
Mike Suydam picked up the win on the hill for U.H. as he worked 4 strong shutout innings allowing just 2 hits, while striking out 8 without a walk. Seth Malone pitched an inning, giving up a run on 2 hits & struck out 3. Jace Cassata pitched a scoreless 6th while striking out 2. Offensively for Union Hose Mike Suydam had a hit, stole 2 bases & scored a run…Shane Crandall was 3-3 with a double, scored 3 times & stole a base…Noah Clark was 2-4 scoring twice with 3 steals…Jace Cassata 2-4 with a stolen base & scored a run…J.J. Chrissy 2-4 with a stolen base & scored once…Seth Malone 1-1 with 4 stolen bases & scored a pair of runs…Allen Luxon stole one base & scored a run, & Devin Douglas was 1-2 & scored once.
Shay’s sent Mackenzie Johnson, Bryce Applin & Jake Smith to the mound. Offensively they could only muster 4 hits in the game as Jake Smith & Taylor Wolfanger were each 1-3…Mackenzie Johnson was 1-2 & scored the lone run…& Bryce Applin was 1-2 with a double & drove in the only run for the Truckers.
