LMC Rallies Late, Defeats Moose

LMC 9 Moose 5

After falling behind early in their Dansville Little League baseball match-up on Saturday (May 7) afternoon on Knox Street, LMC built a little momentum of their own. Coach Ron Cartwright’s crew constructed a comeback that saw them patiently ease their way back into striking distance, & then took the lead for good with a 4-run 5th. LMC would tack on a couple of insurance runs in the 6th to defeat Moose by a 9-5 final.

LMC took the early lead in the game in the top of the first when Nate Gardner drew a walk, stole a couple bases & later scored the first run of the contest. Coach Mel Mensinger’s club battled right back & plated 5 big runs in the first to take the lead. A couple of walks, & hits by Ryder Whitman and Dylan Greene triggered the 5 runs as Moose chased the LMC starter, but then Mason Mann came out of the bullpen for the visitors & slammed the door. Mann would work 5 strong innings holding Moose at bay, & allowed his teammates a chance to get back into the game, & in this case, they would take the lead for good & come out victorious.

LMC scratched away single runs in the the 3rd & 4th frames. In the third Zaiden Blackmon singled, stole a couple of bases, & came home making it a 5-2 game. Then in the 4th Caden Cartwright walked & later crossed the plate inching LMC even closer. The momentum would shift drastically in the top of the 5th when the construction crew built a 4-run rally to grab a lead they would never relinquish. Walks would play a big part in the inning as only Mason Mann would get a hit that would drive in couple. An error left the door open for a couple more runs to score giving LMC the lad 7-5. Coach Cartwright’s team would score a couple more runs in the top of the 6th to seal the deal in a final score of 9-5.
