Its “knitty gritty” time in the high school sports realm & the Dansville girls track & field team has been saving their best performances for last. The Livingston County event unfolded at Caledonia-Mumford Central School on Friday (May 20) night & when the smoke cleared, the Lady Mustangs had one champion & personal best showings in 11 different events! Coach Eileen McMaster had just 2 words for the performance…”Super impressive !”
Taking the top spot in the county for the 100 m hurdles was Leah Whiteman! Go Leah ! She would also help head up the list of “personal records” (PR’s) at the counties as well. She would also PR while taking 3rd in the 400 m hurdles as well. Samantha Miller would take 5th in both the 1500 m & 3000 m while hitting a personal best in the 1500 m & the 2000 m steeplechase. The 4 x 100 relay team (Gabby Anderson, Mackenzie Lawless, Rachel Drake & Leah Whiteman) not only took 5th, but also tied a personal record. The 4 x 400 relay squad (Gabby Anderson, Breigh Graves, Gwen Werth, & Rachel Drake) also finished 5th, but set themselves a new personal record with the run.
Coach Eileen also reported “personal record” performances from…Ellennia Jo Errington in the pentathalon…Katie Warner in the discus…Rachel Drake in the 400 m…Mackenzie Lawless in the 200 m…Breigh Graves in the 400 m hurles….& the 4 x 800 relay line-up (Breigh Graves, Alex Kendall, Gwen Werth, & Emma Beardsley) set a new personal standard as well.
The Lady Mustangs, among others will be headed off to the Sectionals this coming Friday (May 27) with over a dozen young ladies set to compete! Great job ladies & good luck !
