Keshequa 9 Letchworth 7
Call it “tribal warfare” if you will, but Keshequa would win the battle of the “Indians” as the Nunda-Dalton gang bested Letwchorth in high school baseball on Thursday (Apr 28) afternoon by a 9-7 final at “the Outpost”. Coach Ron Macomber’s club would register the win on a complete game pitching effort by Nick Wood who gave up 7 runs, only 1 earned, on 7 hits while striking out 4 & walking 4. The visiting Indians would build a 4-0 lead over the first 3 innings. Austin Galton’s hit drove in Connor Mann on a single in the opening frame. Dustyn Zangerle’s rbi single plated Nick Wood to double the lead in the 2nd. Keshequa tacked on a 2 more in the top of the 3rd as Nick Wood & Collyn White would each produce runs on hits to score Brock Allen & Bryce Bennett. Keshequa then fell victim to some shoddy defense that allowed Letchworth to tie the game in the 5th at 4-4. In the 6th the orange & black would take the lead for good by scoring 4 runs of their own. Colton Davis’ single drove in a pair, while Bryce Bennett & Nick Wood each slapped run-scoring singles. Letchworth made it close again by scoring 3 more unearned runs in the home half of the 6 as Keshequa hung on for the 9-7 win. Offensively, Nick Wood was 3-4 with a trio of rbis & scored a run in his own behalf…while Bryce Bennett was 2-4 & scored twice….Dustyn Zangerle & Austin Galton were each 2-4 in the triumph for Keshequa (6-4). Coach Macomber’s crew hosts Canaseraga on Saturday ( Apr. 30) at 4:30pm.
