On Monday (May 9) at the “Devils Den” Geneseo scored early & often as they took a commanding lead in their high school baseball match-up with Wayland-Cohocton. Coach Nick Drollette’s team put up a half-dozen runs in the 2nd & had a 10-0 lead after 3 innings of play. The Blue Devils scored 3 more in the 5th before Wayland-Cohocton finally got on the board with a “deuce” in the top of the 6th.  Way-Coh skipper Steve Wager commented, ” Geneseo is unquestionably the best hitting team we’ve faced all season. They were hitting line drives all over the place against us. Right-hander Parker Burnette threw a complete game & K’d 8 and did not allow an earned run in the victory. Sean Kelly led the Blue Devils offensively going 3-3 & drove in 3 runs in the rout.  Wayland-Cohocton’s offense saw Nick Shoram go 2-2 & scored a run…Jason Page was 2-3 with a stolen base, & Eythan Briggs 1-3 & scored once. The Golden Eagles send 3 hurlers to the hill in the game as Hunter Bressler started, while Connor Englert & Jack Gibson each appeared in relief.
