The Wayland-Cohocton baseball team put the bat on the ball on Monday (Apr. 25) afternoon at “the Nest”, pounded out 11 hits as they earned their 3rd win of the season posting an 8-4 victory over Perry-Mt.Morris in high school varsity action. Coach Steve Wager’s Way-Coh crew jumped out in front plating a single run in the first inning. Jason Page led off with a single, & later in the inning Curren Finn would pick him up with run-scoring single. The maroon & gold would do more of the same in the 3rd when they plated 4 more runs. Connor Englert opened with a double, John Freberg’s single put runners at the corners. Jason Page, Eythan Briggs, & John Freberg also stroked singles that would produce runs making it now 5-0. After Perry-Mt. Morris scored twice in the top of the 4th, Wayland-COhocton would get the runs right back. A couple of errors figured in the scoring of one run in the Way-Coh 4th…then Pat O’Neal’s single made it &-2. Wayland-Cohocton’s final run came in the 6th when Mike Feinman opened with a single, stole second, & then Pat O’Neal singled him home for the 8-4 victory. The Blue Jackets’ final runs crossed the pate in the top of the 7th as Eagles pitching would limit the blue & gold to just a handful of hits on this day.

Wayland-Cohocton ( (3-7) received fine pitching from Hunter Bressler who notched the win wokring 6 strong innings of 4 hit baseball. He gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, struck out 5 without a walk. Jason Page led the offense 2-4 wth 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases & an rbi….Curren Finn 1-3 with a stolen base & an rbi…Eythan Briggs 2-4 & drove in a run….Mike Feinman 1-3 with stolen base & scored a run…Pat O’Neal 2-3 with an rbi, a stolen base & scored a run…Connor Englert 1-1 with a double & scored twice….& John Freberg 2-2 with a run scored, & drove one in in the win.
Wayland-COhocton visits Dansville on Tuesday, heads to Livonia on Wednesday before wrapping up the week in Wellsville on Friday afternoon. All 3 games are slated for 4:30pm.
