Livonia 8 Dansville 2
The Dansville girls softball squad battled their way back to tie Livonia in the high school softball opener on Friday (Apr. 1) at Babcock Park, but the Lady Bulldogs put 2 on the board in the 5th & then broke the game open with 4 more runs in the 6th leading Livonia to an 8-2 victory. The game was a pitchers dual early on as Dansville’s Natasha King limited Livonia to just 1 run over the first 3 innings, while Bulldogs ace Molly Stewart blanked the Mustangs over that trio of frames to open the game. The blue & orange added to their lead with a single run in the top of the 4th. Coach Nick Crawford’s crew came right back in the home half of the 4th to knot the game when Adrianna Little & Cheyenne Markowski each crossed the plate making in a 2-2 tie.
The momentum swung back Livonia’s way in the 5th when they scored 2 runs of their own to retake the lead. A 4-run rally in the 6th spelled the downfall of Dansville, as the Mustangs couldn’t muster any more offense against Livonia pitcher Molly Stewart who would go all the way for the win in the 8-2 final. Stewart would work 7 strong innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs & fanned 3 in the contest. The Lady Bulldogs were led offensively by Audrey Minton’s 3-4 day scoring 2 runs…Gabby Reid was 2-4 & scored once, while Abby Gibson had a 2-3 day scoring twice for Livonia (1-0, 1-0). Natasha King yielded 8 runs on 11 hits while striking out 3 for the Lady Mustangs (0-1, 0-1). Offensively for Dansville Cheyenne Markowski had a double & scored a run….Adrianna Little went 2-3 & scored once….& Emma Kelly was 1-1.
Dansville visits Alexander on Tuesday (Apr. 5) night in their next contest. Livonia entertains Warsaw at “the Dog House” on Wednesday (Apr. 6) afternoon at 4:30pm.
