The Keshequa boys baseball team had a rough start to the week as they dropped consecutive decisions to both Leroy & Warsaw. In the Leroy affair in Nunda the visiting Knights would win a slug-fest by a 13-8 final. Leroy grabbed the early lead in the game & maintained it throughout. The red & black netted 2 runs in the first, & then coach Ron Macomber’s crew scored a run in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by Brock Allen who plated Connor Mann. The Knights went up 7-1 heading into the bottom of the 3rd when the orange & black scored when Colton Davis crossed the plate. Leroy scored a couple runs in each of the next 2 frames making it 11-2. The Indians received rbi grounders from Austin Galton & Brock Allen. Keshequa put a rally together in the 6th scoring 4 times to get within striking distance. Catchers interference, an error & a walk fueled the uprising as Brock Allen’s hit drove in a couple of the runs making it 11-8. Leroy scored 2 more to close out the Indians as Nick Wood worked 4 innings on the hill & Colton Davis hurled 3.
Keshequa dropped a heartbreaker 4-3 to Warsaw in the battle of the orange & black. The Indians took the early lead scoring all 3 of their runs in the first inning. A bases loaded walk pushed the first one across, while Bryce Bennett’s double scored the other 2. The Tigers tied it with 3 in the 4th, & then an error allowed an unearned run to score in the 5th as Warsaw would win it 4-3. Austin Galton pitched well enough to win as he scattered 7 hits, while striking out 4 & walked 3. Keshequa was limited to just 5 hits in the game as Connor Mann, Austin Galton, Colton Davis, & Dustyn Zangerle had the other hits for the Indians who left 7 runners on base in the game.
