Keshequa Girls Break Out Against Blue Jackets

Keshequa 14 Mt. Morris / Perry 7

Coach Bill Mann’s first softball victory didn’t come without its anxious moments on Monday (Apr. 11) night as Keshequa captured a 14-7 win over visiting Perry / Mt. Morris in Nunda at the “Wig Wam on Walnut”. The homestanding Indians were swinging the bats well throughout the game & had garnished their first year coach with a somewhat comfortable 14-4 lead heading into the last inning. Didn’t the blue & gold load the bases to start the fire? The Blue Jackets then proceeded to score 3 runs with no-outs in the inning ! Keshequa finally settled things down & recorded 3 outs while hanging on for an eventual 14-7 final at home.

Kayla Yencer got the job done on both sides….from the circle & at the plate. She would earn the win with 5 strong innings while going 3-3 on the offensive side which included a grand-slam home run! Other offensive stand-outs included Ashleigh Parthamer, who had a “monster day” going 3-4 with 2 triples & drove in 7 runs! Katherine Gelser 3-3 with a pair of doubles, while Abby Wood was 2-4 & scored a run for the victors. Keshequa visits Avon on Wednesday (Apr. 13) afternoon at 4:30pm while Mt. Morris / Perry visits Avon on Tuesday (Apr. 12) in a rescheduled contest.
