Wellsville 11 Keshequa 5
The homestanding Wellsville Lions scored early & often as they would overcome visiting Keshequa in high school baseball action in Allegany County on Friday (Apr. 1) in an 11-5 final. Coach Denny Miles’ cats would tear the game wide open scoring 4 times in the first inning, 3 more in the 2nd, & 4 more in the 3rd and that’s all the Lions would need. Keshequa skipper Ron Macomber Jr noted, “it was easy to tell it was our first game & their 3rd. We certainly didn’t help ourselves by walking 11 batters, hitting 2, & only getting 2 hits in the game.” Fielding miscues & walks would give Wellsville the fuel for the early rallys as the home team would cash in on the mistakes to take home the victory.
The Indians (0-1) were down 7-0 when they scored 2 of their runs in the 3rd inning. Connor Mann came home on an error, while Colton Davis crossed the dish on a bases-loaded walk. Keshequa plated the other 3 runs in their last at bat in the 7th. The whole rally revolved around Austin Galton who doubled in 2 runs, & later scored on a wild pitch. Winning the battle of the orange & black, Wellsville improved to 3-0 on the season. Keshequa visits Letchworth on Monday (Apr. 4) afternoon in a 4:30pm contest.
