Perry Boys Pull Away From Keshequa

In Nunda on Friday (Jan. 29) night, the Perry boys basketball team would put on a an “offensive burst” in the 2nd & 4th quarters in opening up a wide margin of victory over Keshequa as the Yellowjackets left town with a convincing 65-39 victory at the “Indians Reservation.” The game was close in the first as the blue & gold inched out to a 13-9 lead. Perry would open up that margin considerably with 20-9 run in the 2nd making it a 33-18 affair. Coach Bill Mann’s Indians showed some signs of life on both ends of the floor in the 3rd quarter Perry finished the job with a 19-5 outburst in the final 8 minutes as the Yellowjackets took full control of things in winning the contest by a wide margin.

Perry (12-5) saw Tyler Cowie net 18 points, while Austin Croll scored 16, Owen Spencer finished with 14, & Devon Mann 11 as a quartet of Yellowjackets finished in double-digits. Zach Lowery, Connor Smith, & Michael Zintel each scored 2. Austin Schmidt led Keshequa ( 7-9) with 13 points, Gavin Duryea had 12…Cory Baker 7…Brad Bennett 2…& Connor Mann 1. The Indians visit Wayland-Cohocton on Wednesday (Feb. 3) night.

Keshequa first year head coach Bill Mann said…..” We are still taking baby steps & learning how to play competitively again on a consistent basis. not just in a few selected games. Each game leaves us learning points that can be used as we try to bring everything together in time for the Sectionals.”
