Dansville 50 Caledonia-Mumford 46
In a rare edition of Monday night basketball (Feb. 8) the Cal-Mum Red Radiers would get hot early, while the Dansville Mustangs would get red-hot late & would overtake the Red Raiders in a fast & furious 14-2 run that gave coach Dave Moodie’s club a thrilling 50-46 win at home in boys basketball action. Cal-Mum started the game put up 22 points in the opening period & led their hosts by 7 heading into quarter # 2. The 2 teams played fairly even hoop in the 2nd with the Red Raiders maintaining a 5 point margin 30-25 at the half. Visiting Cal-Mum hustled, scratched & clawed their way to an 8 point lead at the end of the 3rd. Dansville skipper Dave Moodie “shoveled some coals on the fire” & his Mustangs came out “on fire” in the 4th ! The red & black smothered Cal-Mum defensively, while the offense opened up & scored 14 points to overtake the Red Raiders. Dansville took the lead late in the period & the Mustangs were up by 1 with about a minute left to go. With possession of the ball the horses got it over to Thomas Graves who zeroed in from 3-point land & drilled a “trey” with :45 remaining which would establish the final count of 50-46 as Dansville staged the huge comeback at home to send the fans home happy!
Dansville ( 8-11) was paced by Derek Wampole’s 23 points, 17 boards, 3 blocks & 3 assists….Thomas Graves & Anthony Sackett each netted 6 points on a pair of 3-pointers…Nic Rosica scored 4 & had 5 boards….Austin Milliman finished with 4 points, & Forrest Edmond added 2. The Mustangs host Bath in their final regular season game on Ash Wednesday night ( Feb. 10). Cal-Mum ( 6-14) was led by Marcus Middleton’s 11 points, Ian Lenhardt & Vin Molisani each had 10, Shai Nelson scored 8, Matt Nusbickle 4, & Jon Boilord 3.
