Keshequa 43 York 39
The game couldn’t have been much closer as the Livingston County Division III girls basketball title was on the line Tuesday night (Feb. 9). Keshequa dropped in on the Golden Knights at the “Round Table in Retsof” & came home with the crown by virtue of some great defense & some timely offense in the final minute & a half of play in a 43-39 thriller !
In the early going the purple & gold grabbed a 3-point lead after the first 8 minutes of play. The pendulum of momentum then swung the other way as the Indians offense got on the warpath & outscored their hosts 17-11 to take a 3-point lead of their own at the half (23-20). Again things started swinging the other way in the 3rd as the Knights rode out of the period outscoring Kesheuqua by 3 in the quarter leaving the title tilt tied after 3 quarters of action 34-34. The game came down to final 8 minutes of play….& about 6 & a half of those left the 2 top clubs in the division tied. With the game knotted at 36-36, Keshequa’s Payton Powers buried a “huge” 3-pointer that put the Indians in the lead the rest of the way as the orange & black claimed a 43-39 triumph & the D-3 top spot!
