Keshequa 42 Warsaw 21
A fast start was a huge key in Friday (Feb. 5) night’s Keshequa win over Warsaw in Nunda in the battle of “orange & black” as the homestanding Indians emerged with a 42-21 win. Coach Bill Mann’s club got off to a quick start as the Indians were on the “war path” early with a 13-2 run in the first quarter. This would help establish the margin for the finish as the Indians would add to the lead by halftime, making it 28-9. Keshequa played the remaining 2 periods fairly close with the visiting Tigers as the Indians got back on the winning track with a 42-21 triumph.
Keshequa ( 8-11) was led by Austin Schmidt’s 12 points & a dozen boards in a double-double performance. Cory Baker scored 9 with 5 rebounds…Bryce Bennett added 8 points with 6 rebounds & 6 steals….Brad Bennett finished with 5 points, 6 steals & a half dozen rebounds…Connor Mann had 4 points, 6 assists, 5 steals & 5 boards…Nick Wood had 2 points & 5 boards…Anthony Dietz scored 2 points & had a rebound…Jake Blanchard, Mike Uveino, & Austin Strobel each collected a rebound, as Strobel also had a steal & an assist in the win. Keshequa hosts York on Wednesday (Feb. 10) night, while Warsaw entertains Perry.
For the Tigers ( 1-18) Ethan Grawe scored 7…Logan Motz & Mike Page added 3 each….while Andrew Kruppner, Alex Fanaro, Zach Stone, & Jake Tangeman each contributed 2 in the game.
