Keshequa Boys Bow To York In Finale

Despite coming up on the short side of a 54-47 score in Nunda on Wednesday (Feb. 10) night, the Keshequa boys basketball team proved they “can play with” anybody! First year coach Bill Mann’s team battled a very tough York team in a tight contest throughout in both teams’ regular season finale. The Golden Knights managed to grab a slim lead in the first 8 minutes of action as they led the homestanding Indians by 3 points. The momentum shifted in the 2nd when Keshequa would gain the upper-hand & went into the locker room clinging to 27-26 edge. The purple & gold managed to tip the tables their way in each of the last 2 quarters to go home with a hard-fought 54-47 victory.

Keshequa was led by Austin Schmidt who pumped in 23 points, as Bryce Bennett scored 8 & dished out 6 assists as well, Cory Baker scored 6 points, but cleaned house on the boards with 18 rebounds…Brad Bennett scored 6 with 3 steals & a couple of assists…Connor Mann finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds & 3 assists…& Jake Blanchard had a steal for the Indians.
York saw Hunter Stella score 23, while Andrew Guesno added 13 points…Clay Cutting finished with 8…Cody Dubiel had 6 as Donald Lubanski & Josh Koblanski each had 2 in the season ending victory for the Golden Knights.
