Mt. Morris 56 Keshequa 51
A gradual reversal of momentum would result in a 56-51 victory for the Mt. Morris Blue Devils as they visited the “Indians Reservation” in Nunda & handed Keshequa a setback in boys basketball action on Friday (Jan. 15) night. The home team would have things go their way early on. Coach Bill Mann’s club pushed out to a slim 14-9 advantage following the first 8 minutes of play. As most rivalries go, this one was “hotly contested” as it would be close the rest of the way. The navy & white would flip-flop the margin by outscoring Keshequa 19-14 in the 2nd period resulting in a 28-28 tie at the half. You can’t get much closer than that ! Coach Jesse Hamilton’s squad would inch ahead by one at the end of the 3rd, & slightly extend it to the final margin of victory 56-51 as it was anybody’s game throughout the night.
Mt. Morris improved to (10-2 )on the season with the road win as Bubba Maldonado led the way with 23 points, Bruce Patterson added 11, Nick Werner, Josh Hart, & K.C. Howe each scored a half-dozen, while Devon Young & Reed Goho added 2 apiece in the Division III victory. Keshequa ( 6-9) had all their scoring done by 3 players as Austin Schmidt & Cory Baker would each register double-doubles in a losing effort.
