The Livingston Conference championships were held in winter swimming on Saturday (Jan. 23) in Bath. Among the champs & award winners who walked away with hardware were a trio of local swimmers who achieved “title respect” in the county meet in the pool.
Dansville’s Shane Gilman dove his way to victory in the 1-meter diving event by qualifying for the states with an impressive score of 527.65 !
Another Mustang lifted some eyebrows as 8th grader Aidan Krieley took the 100 Breast stroke in a time of 1:04.52.
Wayland-Cohocton’s senior speed-burner Trevor Kline sliced the waters for the title in the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 23.16.
The meet saw Livonia place first (469), Avon 2nd (438) followed by Dansville in 3rd (328)….Wayland-Cohocton was 6th (188).
Livonia were the league meet champions & the division one duel meet titlists.
Avon took the Division II meet top spot.
Nic Wolfer of Avon was named “swimmer of the meet”, while “swimmer of the year” went to Livonia’s John Wilson.
Tim Mee from York was given the “coach of the year” award.
The Southwest Chapter Officials voted Hornell as the “sportsmanship award” winners for the season.
A trio of Livingston County title holders qualified for the N.Y. State meet including Dansville’s Shane Gilman, Nic Wolfer from Avon, & Geneseo’s Tom Marshall.
