Keshequa 41 Pavilion 34
Defense combined with a little bit of offense is often a good thing at the end of a ballgame. Keshequa girls hoops coach Pete Piraino got a little of both at the “Indians Reservation” on Friday (Jan. 22) evening as his Lady Indians would outscore Pavilion in each of the first 3 periods en route to a 41-34 victory over the Golden Gophers in Division III action in Nunda. The first 8 minutes were close as the home team would sneak ahead 10-9 after the initial stanza. The Indians offense started to “click” in the 2nd where they would double-up Pavilion to take a 24-16 lead at halftime. The orange & black would continue on a steady course as they added to the lead again in the 3rd pushing the margin up to 37-22. Pavilion would outscore Keshequa 12-4 in the last quarter, but it would figure to be “too little, too late” as the Indians would emerge 41-34 winners in the end.
