First Half Splurge Springs Attica Past Dansville

Attica 70 Dansville 47

On Tuesday (Jan. 19) the Dansville boys took a long trip to Attica. The ride back was longer after the Blue Devils raced to a convincing 70-47 victory in high school basketball action in a non-league match-up. Mustangs coach Dave Moodie stated, “I thought it would be good for us to play some quality non-league teams to see where we stand up against competition from some other leagues around the area. Tonight it would seem like we still have some work to do to peak at the end of the season heading into the post-season.”

A talented Attica team got out of the gates quickly with a 21-8 start in the first quarter. Things didn’t get any better for the red & black in the 2nd stanza where the Blue Devils would keep the offense “clicking” as a 23-10 spurt put the blue & orange in command at the half by a one-sided 44-18 count. The Mustangs offense came around a little bit in the 2nd half to outscore their hosts, but the hole they dug early in the game would never be overcome.

Attica (9-3) was paced by Owen Thompson’s 30 points, including 6 three-pointers & 8 boards…Jake George added 18 points, 6 assists & 5 rebounds. Nick Perry scored 10, Levi Snyder 6, Ian Brotherton 4, & Noah Craddock 2. Dansville ( 6-8) was led by Derek Wampole’s double-double with 16 points & 10 rebounds…Austin Milliman notched double-digits with 14 points & 6 rebounds…Thomas Graves added 6….Anthony Sackett & Cody Dudek had 5 apiece…& Tom Wise had 1 point & 3 rebounds. Dansville visits rival Wayland-Cohocton on Friday night (Jan. 22) in a boys-girls varsity double-header. The boys are slated for a 6pm tip-off.
