Hornell 79 Dansville 50
The Red Raiders scored early & late in the Maple City as they would down Dansville 79-50 in boys basketball play on Friday night (Jan. 8). The Mustangs, let alone the rest of the league, have no answer for the unlimited talents of Hornell point guard Sam Dagon who buried 38 points in the Red Raiders win at “Maple City Garden”. Coach Kirk Scholes’ offense “peeled out” in the first period with a 23-8 run to put some distance between themselves & Dansville. Coach Dave Moodie’s Mustangs showed some grit in the 2nd as they turned right around & got back after their route 36 rivals outscoring them in the period & went in down a dozen at the half 40-28. The Red raiders put on the after-burners in the 4th putting the game on ice with a 22-10 spurt resulting in the 79-50 final.
Hornell ( 9-2) was paced by Sam Dagon’s 38 points, while Jake Dunn added 15, Jack Galatio scored 7…Isaac Snowden & Jack Henby had 4 each…Jake Weyand, Jamaal Arnink, & Dontae Milliner had 3 apiece, as Caleb Burdett added 2 for the Red Raiders.
Dansville ( 6-6) was led by Derek Wampole’s 20 points & 7 rebounds… Anthony Sackett pumped in four 3-pointers & finished with 14 points & 5 boards…Austin Milliman scored 6 points…Dan Jessmer added 5…Tom Graves netted 3 with a half-dozen rebounds….& Ryan Conklin had 2 points & 5 rebounds for Dansville.
