Strong 2nd Half Lifts Livonia Girls Over Dansville

The cover came off of the girls high school hoop season on Monday (Nov. 30) night at the “Mustangs Corral” as the Kristen Moose “coaching era” got underway for the Dansville rookie skipper. “Moose” & company found out what its like to play in Livingston County Division one as the red & black had their “hands full” in their opener at home against an experienced, & successful Livonia team. Coach Moose’s club hung tough with the Bulldogs in the first half as it was literally a “dog fight”. Livonia grabbed the early advantage & took a 9-4 lead after the first 8 minutes of the season. Dansville battled back to outscore the orange & blue in the 2nd cutting the deficit to 17-15 at the half.

Lady Bulldogs coach Karen Schuster must have “thrown some logs on the fire” during halftime, as Livonia came out & outscored Dansville 32-15 in the 2nd half with a 22-7 run in the 3rd to key a 49-30 victory. Dansville was led by Sabrina Didas’ double-double as she contributed with 13 points, 20 rebounds, & 6 blocked shots…Hope Didas added 4 points, 7 boards & 3 assists…Abby Kuhn scored 3 & had 7 rebounds…Brooke Hartson added 3 points & 3 boards…Sarah Cotton had 3 points & a pair of assists…Bri Henchen & Meghan Waters each scored 2 while grabbing 4 rebounds in the setback. The Lady Bulldogs hit the hardwood again on Tuesday Dec. 8th when they host Avon, while Dansville’s back in action again on Wednesday (Dec. 2) night as they visiting the Southern Tier Reservation at Canisteo-Greenwood.

Livonia (1-0) was led by Molly Stewart’s 12 points, while Niki Templeton added 10, Melissa Mineti notched 9, Maddy Herzog 7, Sarah Linsner & Sarah Nation each netted 4, Lindsay Kolodziejski added 2 & Morgan Hyde 1 point for the Lady Bulldogs.
