New Indians coach William Mann noted, ” we rebounded from a sluggish first half & played very well in the 2nd half. We played “lock down” defense as well”. That was pretty much the story as Kesheua’s offense also opened up in a 57-35 victory at the “Indians Reservation” in Nunda on Friday (Dec. 11) night in boys basketball action. The home team had a decent start as the established an 11-5 lead after the initial 8 minutes of play. The Golden Gophers dug down deep & got things going in the 2nd & kept pace with Keshequa as the orange & black took a 24-16 lead in at the half. Coach Mann must have shoveled some coals on the fire at the half as the Indians came out on the warpath in the 3rd quarter. Keshequa outscored their purple & gold opponents 19-7 to take control of the contest leading to the 57-35 victory.
Keshequa was led by Austin Schmidt’s 22 points & 8 rebounds, while Gavin Duryea added 21 markers & dished out 4 assists. Cory Baker scored 8 with 6 boards…Bryce Benned netted 6 with 4 rebounds & 4 steals…Connor Mann contributed with 7 assists, 3 rebounds & a trio of steals…Jake Blanchard & Nick Wood each added a rebound in the win. Pavilion was led by Caleb Milligan’s 11 points, as Jacob Tillotson scored 7, Luke Milligan 6, Robert Cutcliff 4, Hunter Seaman & Caleb Hoffman had 3 each & Brandon Lynk had 2 for the Gophers.
