What more can you say about coach Elieen McMaster, her coaching staff, & 31 members of the Dansville Indoor Track & Field team? The squad opened their season on Saturday (Dec. 12) at Houghton College with a strong performance which saw 11 athletes earning their Varsity “D”. Several athletes qualified for sectionals, while some are already ranked in Section V competition.
Coach McMaster had plenty to report in regards to the highlights of the initial meet of the season. Those highlights included….
-Senior Leah Whiteman automatically qualified in the 55 meter hurdles as she’s currently ranked 2nd in our class
-Senior Sam Miller had a double P.R.(personal record) in the 3,000 meters & the 1,500 meters while provisionally qualifying for Sectionals in both. Miller is already ranked 3rd in the 3,000 & 1st in the 1,500 for Class C.
-Pole Vaulter Sam King has provisionally qualified for Secionals in both the Pole Vault & Triple Jump.
-Senior Ellenina Jo Errigton returns this season as a strong jumper & had provisionally qualified for Sectionals in high jump & long jump.
-Josh Jacobs is a newcomer to indoor track & brings his outdoor experience with him as he has provisionally qualified in the 600 meters & is currently ranked 4th in Class “C”. He’s also ranked 1st for Class “C” in the 1,000 & has already provisionally qualified for Sectionals.
As the season unfold Coach McMaster notes…”we’re looking forward to a successful season with our talented & diverse team. We have a great mix of returning athletes along with several newomers as well. “
Dansville will be in action again at SUNY-Brockport on Saturday Dec. 18 th. Go Mustangs !!
