Dansville Girls Get First Win of “Moose” Era

It didn’t take long, but the Dansville Lady Mustangs aided rookie skipper Kristen Moose to her first win as coach of the red & black on Wednesday (Dec. 2) night as they raced past Canisteo-Greenwood by a final score of 57-36 at the “Redskins Reservation.” Coach Moose noted, ” it felt good to get that first one under our belts. We came out in a press & managed to get a good start by taking advantage of a few of their turnovers & converting them on the other end.”
The visitors hustled their way to a commanding 19-5 lead at the end of the first 8 minutes of play as Sabrina Didas & Sarah Cotton each scored 6 in the period to pace the Lady Mustangs. The Redskins shook off the early doldrums & kept pace with Dansville in the 2nd period, but the Livingston County contingent held a 30-14 lead at halftime. Canisteo-Greenwood outscored Dansville in the 3rd by just one point, but Dansville won the final period with some consistent play down the stretch to hold on for a convincing victory by a final score of 57-36.

Leading the way for Dansville (1-1) was Sabrina Didas who had another “monster of a double-double” scoring 20 points, grabbing 15 boards, she added 5 assists, 2 steals & 2 blocked shots as well…Abby Kuhn netted 8 points with 4 rebounds & 4 assists…Sarah Cotton scored 6 with a half-dozen assists & 4 rebounds…Hope Didas netted 5 markers with 5 rebounds & a pair of steals…Bri Henchen & Meghan Waters each scored 7 points, as Henchen had 3 caroms & a trio of assists as well…Vittoria Salomone & Paige Harrison each scored 2 for the victorious Mustangs. Dansville hosts Caledonia-Mumford on Wednesday Dec. 9th in their next outing.

Canisteo-Greenwood (0-1) was led byElaina Brownell’s 15 points, while Maisy Booth added 11, Autumn Edwards 6, & Seresa Miller scored 4 for the Redskins. Canisteo-Greenwood visits Bath on Friday (Dec. 4) night.

In J.V. action Dansville improved to 2-0 with a 42-22 victory as Jackie Blechinger & Skyler Race each scored 9 points, while Katelin Everman & Grace Rittenhouse netted 8 & 6 respectively.
