# 1 Wayland-Cohocton 2 # 4 Leroy 1
In another big defensive battle at the “Bee Hive” in Perry, Wayland-Cohocton & Leroy tangled in yet another Livingston County ladies match-up. The big “D” was the key in the contest early on as the Golden Eagles & Oakten Knights continually denied one another until late in the first half. The maroon & gold would net one late in the half, but the Knights tied up midway through then 2nd half before Wayland-Cohocton god a late score from Jessie Hammers to win a tight 2-1 affair in the B-2 girls semi-finals.
Recent call-up Karlee Chizuk baptized the back of the net on an assist from Madison Lewis with just 2 minutes remaining in the first half to break the scoreless tie that had existed throughout the entirety of the first half. Midway into the 2nd half Leroy came battling back to tie the game up with a goal around the 20 minute mark. With the score knotted & time winding down, Wayland-Cohocton would net the game-winner with about 3 minutes left in regulation when Jessie Hammers fired a left-footed shot that hit & stunned the keeper. The ball dropped near the goal line & Hammers kept coming through to push it in for the goal that would decide the 2-1 contest in Way-Coh’s favor ! The win puts coach Terry Brown’s team into the Section V Class B-2 Championship game on Friday (Oct. 30) at Honeoye Falls-Lima at 7:30pm.
Wayland-Cohocton (16-2) out shot Leroy 22-4 while Eagles keeper Ashlee Schumacher had 2 saves, & Jamie Englerth had 13 stops for the Knights who finish their season at (6-10-2). Madison Lewis picked up a pair of assists for the Golden Eagles as well.
