Dansville 7 World of Inquiry O
Despite a defeat earlier in the week to a tough Hornell team, the Dansville girls soccer team did not let it deter them as they came right back & got on the winning track when they visited the city of Rochester & came home with a 7-0 whitewash of World of Inquiry (Franklin).
Coach Arin Belden’s club got cooking in a hurry in this one. Just 4 minutes into the game Dansville notched what would prove to be the game-winner as 8th grader Mackenzie Lawless connected. Just 5 minutes later Dansville had doubled its plesaure as Leah Whiteman scored in the 9th minute off feed from Kate Ferguson making it 2-0. Leah Whitema then doubled her pleasure by scoring again. This time Taylor Graves would assist on the score just 12 minutes into the game. Graves would add another assist to her credit when she found Maddie Farrell who scored in the 22nd minute of action. Finally with 10 minutes left in the opening half Yvonne Ceder scored with Grace Wearkley assisting as the Mustangs led by a handful at the half.
As the second half unfolded, Dansville would notch a pair of unassisted goals. In the 65th minute Grace Wearkley found the back of the net, & then about 7 minutes later Ally Bridge finshed the scoring as the Mustangs defeated the city squad by a 7-0 final. The locals outshot Inquiry 20-1 as Dansville keeper Katie Chan had the shutout & just 1 save. Dansville (3-5-2) is back at it on Thursday (Oct. 1) afternoon when the Lady Mustangs host Wellsville at 5pm.
