Keshequa 3 Mt. Morris 2
It was a battle in more ways than one, but when all was said & done on Saturday ( Oct. 10) afternoon the Keshequa boys soccer team remained unbeaten as they edged Mt. Morris in overtime by a final score of 3-2.
Mt. Morris grabbed the lead on Brendan Maldonado’s penalty kick just 10 minutes into the game. A short time later the Indians would knot it up when Damon Rathbun drilled a corner kick & was headed in by Connor Mann.
Following a break at then end of the half Brendan Maldonado did it again in the 59th minute as he again hit home with yet another penalty kick giving Mt. Morris the lead once again. Just 5 minutes later Connor Mann was taken down in the box (64th minute). Damon Rathbun drilled the P.K. knotting things up once more. Finally in the 86th minute of overtime competition Keshequa would “click” on an indirect kick. Damon Rathbun fired the shot off into the box where Connor Mann made contact firing it just in beneath the crossbar giving the orange & black a 3-2 overtime win in the “Route 408 Rivalry”. Austin Galton made 10 saves in the contest as Keshequa improved to 11-0-2 as they will now host Byron Bergen- Elba on Monday. Oct. 12, they then travel to Pavlion/York on Wednesday at 6:30pm, & finish up hosting Warsaw on Friday (Oct. 16). Mt. Morris (9-5) wrap up the season as road warriors. The Blue Devils travel to Warsaw on Wednesday night & visit Perry in their finale on Friday night.
