Hornell 10 Dansville 0
The Hornell girls soccer team was coming off a gut-wrenching 8-1 loss to Wayland-Cohocton in their last game when both teams were 10-1 & vying for supremacy in Livingston County Division One. Needless to say Wayland-Cohocton graduate & Red Raiders coach Mike Wilkinson’s club was disappointed, but they were also determined to get back on the winning track….fast ! There was also a bit of frustration involved in the recovery process & Dansville was the next in line. On Monday night (Oct. 5) at Maple City Park, the Lady Red Raiders proved they still belong in the hunt for the Divisional title by putting it all together against the visiting Mustangs in an offensive outburst that translated into a 10-0 win for Hornell.
No use attempting to describe all the scoring except to say that Abigail Austin & Erin Briggs, & Jocelyn Brittingham each scored twice, while Morgan Brungard, Kristen Talbot, Annie Willsey & Heather Hickok each found the net once in the landslide. Willsey would add 4 assists, Jocelyn Brittingham 2, & one each for Abigail Austin, Shea Green, & Morgan Brungard, had one apiece. In the other statistical categories it all played out Hornell as goalie Chantre Milliner had 1 save & posted a shutout. Katie Chan was in goal for Dansville (4-6-2). Hornell ( 11-2) will host Livonia on Wed. Oct. 7th at 6:30pm, while the Mustangs visit Wayland-Cohocton at the Sports Complex on Wednesday night at 7pm.
