Dansville 5 U-Prep 1
In a make-up game from a “scheduling episode” in the city from last week, the Dansville Mustangs had the chance to play at Shalen’s Stadium in Rochester on Monday night (Oct. 5) & took full advantage of it by defeating University Prep by a final score of 5-1 in boys soccer action. Mustangs’ skipper Steve French was looking to keep their winning ways alive, as his team was looking to make it 2 in a row after downing Cal-Mum on Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon at “the Corral.” The red & black came away with a successful effort.
Dansville netted their first goal of the game just 6 minutes into the first half where Nick Vogler threaded the needle on the pass to Vito Blanco giving Dansville the lead. Defense would reign for about 20 minutes, but then the red & black would strike to double their advantage at the 26 minute mark when the Vogler boys played unselfish soccer as Andrew Vogler would feed Nick at the 26 minute mark making it a 2-0 game.
In the 38th minute the Mustangs went up by 3 as Vito Blanco zipped a pass to Nick Vogler who pulled the trigger on one that gave Dansville the 3-0 lead. In the 2nd half Nick Vogler would get the “hat trick” when he scored unassisted just 6 minute into the 3nd. Dansville finished what they started when the final goal was scored after Nick Vogler assisted on a goal by Andrew Vogler to wrap up the scoring.
Dansville (6-6) fired off 20 shots & 4 corners in the game as goalie Ryan Conklin made a half dozen saves in getting the win. The Mustangs celebrate “senior night” on the soccer side of things on Thursday (Oct. 8) when they battle rival Wayland-Cohocton at Ralph Clements Field with game time at 6:30pm.
