Livonia 5 Dansville 2
The Livonia boys soccer team came out to prove why they’re still one of the “teams to beat” in Livingston County Division One as Dansville dropped in to start the month of October (Thur. Oct. 1) on Thursday at “the Dog House”. Coach Ray Maxwell & his Bulldogs were ready and proved it as they nabbed the early lead by scoring twice in the first seven minutes of play & then when Dansville responded, Livonia did the same by countering the Mustangs goal, & then scored twice in the 2nd half to walk away with a 5-2 victory in the harsh breezes in the Bulldogs’ back yard.
Livonia opened the scoring quickly as Ryan Lutz exploited the back of the net in the first 4 minutes. With 36:20 showing on the timer the senior midfielder drilled a shot in the right backside corner to give the orange & blue the early lead. Just 3 minutes ( 33:45) later Livonia would score again when Ryan Lutz slid a pass back up top of the box where Tanner Pierce ran through the shot firing it past the diving Dansville keeper making it a 2 goal lead. Coach Steve French’s Mustangs got a little fired up at the developments & decided to do same. On this occaision the Mustangs put a little rush on the Bulldogs & Nick Vogler deked a defender or two, & got a shot away that was stopped by a diving Sebastian Bosh. The rebound came Vogler’s way & tucked it away cutting the Livonia lead in half 2-1 with 27:11 left in the first half. The orange & blue responded by scoring once more with 6:17 showing on the timer. Tanner Pierce notched his 2nd goal of the game by taking a loose ball hear the box, ran on it and got a strong shot away that found the mark, making it 3-1 at the half.
Coach Steve French’s club tightened up their defense to start the second half which worked by holding Livonia scoreless until about mid-way in the half. With 20:25 remaining in the game, Ryan Henderson slid a pass up top where Ryan Lutz took an open shot in stride which came off the goalies’ fingertips & the momentum took it in. The Bulldogs added to their lead with 9:51 remaining when Mark Brado sent a pass into Kyle Feldman who finished it from the right side of the box from about 10 yards away making it a 4 goal lead. In the final minute (:56) the Mustangs would sneak another goal on the board when Nick Vogler pushed a ball into the box for Vito Blanco who fired off of the goalie’s hands & it would find its way in making the final score 5-2 Livonia.
With the win, Livonia improves to 8-1 as they outshot Dansville 31-8. They also held the edge in corner kicks 4-2. In goal Sebastian Bosh had 5 saves, while Dansville’s (4-6) Ryan Conklin recorded 19 stops in the game. Dansville hosts Cal-Mum on Saturday at 4pm, while Livonia will also be at home on Saturday (Oct. 3) as they’ll entertain Canandiagua at 3pm.
