Wayland-Cohocton 1 Livonia O
It was billed as a “big game” in Livingston County Division One….it sure lived up to the “hype” as both teams were stingy on defense. Wayland-Cohocton would find the back of the net once in the game on Thursday (Sept. 24) night at the Sports Complex. The question would be….would it be enough? The answer would eventually be “yes” as the Golden Eagles “D” held the Bulldogs down the rest of the way to capture a 1-0 win at home. The victory for coach Terry Brown’s club was well deserved & a much-needed one! The Golden Eagles were smarting from Monday’s (Sept. 21) 1-0 loss at the hands of Cal-Mum. Brown stated, “we really needed a good performance tonight. I’m glad we came away with a win, but I still think if we could have finished on a few more shots, it would have been a little less stressful situation for us. Either way, the girls worked hard & earned it…for sure!”
Wayland-Cohocton (9-1) visits Batavia on Tuesday (Sept. 29) at 5pm. The Golden Eagles out shot Livonia in the game 17-8 as goalie Ashlee Schumacher had 5 saves & the shutout, while Livonia’s (5-4) Lindsey Schubert stopped 13 shots in the game. Livonia visits Dansville on Saturday (Sept. 26) morning at 11am.
