“Senior” Eagles Edged in Defensive Battle With Canisteo

It was a “defense dominated” affair on Sunday (Sept. 20)
afternoon at Victory Park where visiting Canisteo put a touchdown on the
board late in the first half & managed to make it stand up for a 6-0 win
over the Wayland “senior” Eagles. Wayland coach Keith Barnard stated,
“it was a great defensive battle & we’re proud of the way our team
played. They left it all on the field. Now we’ll have to work on
generating some offense to go with that defense.”

Wayland highlights included….Ashton McMahon ran for 45 yards &
had 9 tackles…Nick Belanger had 50 yards on the ground & 6
tackles…Collin Mehlenbacher had 10 yards rushing & 5 tackles…Dominic
Swain had 6 tackles…Peter Cicero made 5 stops…Evan Gotshall & Sylar
Miles each had 4 tackles….Alex Ott, Aiden Ludlow & Aaron Ott each had
3 tackles in the game. Wayland will host Geneseo this Sunday afternoon
(Sept. 27).
