Keshequa 5 Pavilion O
The Keshequa girls soccer squad picked up their first win of the year on Wednesday (Sept. 16) night as they put things together & shut out visiting Pavilion by a final score of 5-0 at Kiwanis Park. The orange & black didn’t waste any time in putting themselves in the driver’s seat as 4 minutes into the game the Indians took the lead when Haley Smith fired a shot into the net from about 18 yards out making it 1-0. At the 10 minute mark Cameryn Bugman found Jordan Kapelke who doubled the home team’s lead. In the 23rd minute Maddie Ewing slipped a nice slide pass to Cameryn Bugman who buried a shot making it 3-0. Not only were the Lady Indians beating the Gophers, they would also “beat the clock” as with 5 seconds left in the half Kathryn Gelser would net a goal with Ally Brickwood getting the assist. Keshequa led 4-0 at the half, & would put the exclamation point on the game when senior Shannon Cortese let one fly with 28 minutes left in the game & the rifle-shot found the mark finishing the scoring with the Indians coming away with a 5-0 triumph.
Keshequa (1-2-1) outshot the purple & gold 28-8 in the game as Payton Powers registered the shut out with 5 saves. Pavilion’s keeper Brooke Coniber made 8 saves in the setback. Pavilion hosts Perry on Friday (Sept. 18) night, while Keshequa travels to Warsaw. Both games are 6:30pm starts.
