Cal-Mum Girls Stop Way-Coh’s Run

Caledonia-Mumford 1 Wayland-Cohocton 0

Wayland-Cohocton girls soccer coach Terry Brown will never offer excuses for any loss. On Tuesday (Sept. 22)at the Elsie Tripp Sports Complex the Golden Eagles played with the “injury bug” & players “out of position”….but Brown’s comment regarding Cal-Mum’s 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles …”this was just a great soccer game between 2 very good teams. We knew coming into it that it would be one of our strongest tests to this point, & indeed it was. So now we learn some things from this loss & continue to improve as we move forward.”

The Lady Raiders scored in the first 3 minutes of the game on defensive miscue that Claudia Haut would score on as Maddie Shoemaker was credited with an assist. That would be the lone score of the contest as “defense” ruled the remaining 77 minutes of action. Both teams had chances, & both teams were also turned away by goalkeepers Megan Little (Cal-Mum- 8 saves) & Ashlee Schumacher (Way-Coh- 10 saves). Cal-Mum (6-1) outshot Wayland-Cohocton (8-1) 18-14 in the game. Wayland-Cohocton hosts Livonia on Thursday (Sept. 24) at 5pm, while Cal-Mum will host Avon under the lights on Saturday (Sept. 26) at Hamilton Field with start time at 6pm.
