November 7 The Genesee: A Restless River with Jim Pomeroy, 6:30pm Location: Wadsworth Library,
24 Center Street, Geneseo
Learn why geologists say the Genesee River Valley has some of the most varied drainage history of any in the entire world. Blocked a number of times by massive continental glaciers descending from the north, the Genesee River was forced, among many streams, to cut a new course after the Ice Age. Observe in this illustrated talk how Letchworth State Park’s Lower Falls has changed within recent history and how bedrock can only slow down the work of running water.
Special thanks to Steuben Trust Company for sponsoring the series & to the landowners that have agreed to host the events on their private property.
Events are free (unless otherwise noted), and run rain or shine. Distance and difficulty vary. For more information, contact the Genesee Valley Conservancy office at (585) 243-2190 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
