Saturday, May 10th will be this year’s annual Bike-a-thon in Cohocton, hosted by St. Jude’s Children’s hospital from 10AM-2PM at the Cohocton Elementary School Complex. Over the past 25 years the number of participants has increased from around 20 to over 125. Bike riders and walkers will travel around a 7/10 mile track. There is no required number of laps. Proceeds will benefit the St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Since it’s inception Wheels for Life has raised almost $155,000 for St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Since opening in 1962 treatments invented at St. Judes have helped raise the cancer survival rate in children from 20 percent to 80 percent. On average St. Judes has more than 67,000 patients visit each year. Families never receive a bill from St. Judes for treatment, travel, housing, or food, because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. The event includes family activities such as a picnic lunch, face painting, ice cream sundaes, and crafts. Pledge forms can be found at school offices and local area stores.
