The Groveland Correctional Facility is under the microscope after six violent assaults there in the last week. The corrections officer’s union is questioning the practice of double bunking end. A union vice president blamed the practice for increasing violence and dangerous situations in the prison. The New York State Correctional Officers Police Benevolent Association says there were six separate incidents of inmate violence occurred at the prison on Oct 17th and 18th They were the result of violent gang related fights involving inmates in the mess hall, a walkway and in a housing unit. One officer was hurt trying to stop the fights.
