Townspeople Oppose Men’s Boarding House

Big crowd at fire hall in Leicester Monday night for a meeting of the village board.

More than 150 people — nearly all showed up to turn thumbs-down on a proposal to turn the old Elijah House into a boarding house for men.

The police chief in Mount Morris wants to buy the property and create apartments. But residents worry the house will be filled with weirdos and sex offenders, even though the chief says that’s not the case. The Town Board took no action because they don’t have an official request to rezone the property, but it’s clear the idea has alot of opposition.
