Come enjoy the full sound of the Biggest Little Band at the August 10th Summer Saturdays Arts Series! While at the market, you can also sit in on a flint knapping session with Ken Wallace and get a glimpse of Shake on the Lake’s latest production. The Arts Series takes place from 9:30AM-noon at the Perry Festival Plaza on Main Street in downtown Perry.
When you look at The Biggest Little Band, you’ll only see two guys, but when you close your eyes, you’ll hear sixteen! Tom and Sean Quigley have seventy-seven years of combined music experience and a little high-tech behind-the-scenes magic working for them. Tom began playing when his father brought home a $3 pea-shooter trumpet. He later started a five-piece band that played weddings and private clubs and was also in an Army division band during Korean conflict. Sean began piano lessons at seven and says his Dad has always been his mentor and his musical inspiration. At the market, Tom and Sean will blend live work with technology to bring their performance alive!
Ken Wallace brings an amazing depth of knowledge and skill to the craft of flint knapping. Ken has been working with stone for years and is more than willing to explain and demonstrate his art. He’ll also bring displays of works he and others have crafted. Ken is the organizer of the Stone Tool Show, held each August at Letchworth State Park.
And the Shake on the Lake players will be back with a special preview of their upcoming stage performance at 9:30 am in the Festival Plaza performance area.
Over 15 farm vendors will present a variety of the best produce and homemade products summer has to offer at the Perry Farmers’ Market. The market runs from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. Visitors will find pleasant, shaded outdoor seating in a festive downtown atmosphere. Snacks, meals and drinks are available – a great opportunity to take in the sights, sounds and tastes of a Western New York summer!
This year’s free Arts Series runs each Saturday through September 28th. For more information contact Meghan Hauser at (585) 237 5375 or visit www.perryfarmersmarket.com.
